Ernest Mupwaya is new AEDC Chief

Ernest Mupwaya has been appointed as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) effective 1st August, 2016.

Mupwaya, who takes over from Neil Croucher, was until his appointment the Director of Commercial Services at AEDC and has held several senior management positions at the Zambian national utility, ZESCO Limited, including that of Managing Director. He boasts an electricity industry career spanning 30 years.

On appointing him, the AEDC board of directors has tasked Mupwaya to use his broad experience in the electricity supply industry to transform the company to ensure that it achieves its objectives and build on the successes achieved under Croucher, whose three-year tenure came to a close at the end of July.

A member the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) as well as several other professional bodies and social organisations, Mupwaya’s appointment is subject to the approval of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

AEDC, acquired in 2013, is one of the two Nigerian operating companies in which the CEC Group holds equity interest.
