CEC Boosts Kitwe Clean-Up Campaign – steps up fight against cholera

CEC has donated various materials to the Kitwe City Council, totalling over K220,000.00 as part of its contribution to the City’s clean up exercise. The donation is timely, coming in the wake of the cholera outbreak in Lusaka and other parts of the country.

The first donation valued at K100, 000.00 comprised K30,000 worth of fuel for the local authority’s heavy-duty equipment, 500 cases of mineral water and 200 pieces each of personal protective clothing which included gum boots, leather gloves, work suits and dust masks, all valued at K70,000.00. This was in response to the anti-cholera clean up drive. The second donation of concrete pavers and sand, worth K125,000 is a contribution towards the City’s walkways paving project.

Presenting the donations on behalf of the CEC, Benny Simukoko, Head- Projects and Support Services reiterated CEC’s commitment to supporting the local authority in its service delivery. He also praised the longstanding relationship that the company has with the Council. The Company took pride in its activities of giving back to the community.

Kitwe Mayor Christopher Kang’ombe and District Commissioner Binwell Mpundu received the donations and expressed gratitude over CEC’s gesture to support the clean-up exercise and the fight against cholera. CEC’s contributions were a major boost to the keep Kitwe Clean Exercise.
