CEC in Governance Awards haul

The Company has won three corporate governance awards for its performance in various aspects of business endeavor in 2022. The recognition was made by the Lusaka Securities Exchange (LuSE) from among CEC’s listed peers.

CEC took first place in the category that recognizes companies for their active concern and proactive practices towards environmental sustainability matters – the Green Award. This makes CEC a three-time recipient of the Green Award, having scooped it in 2016, 2021 and retained it in 2022.

Our Managing Director, Owen Silavwe, took the Leadership Award on the basis of how, with his leadership, CEC achieved organisational stability, strong financial performance, increased shareholder value and presented good corporate governance.

The Company also took third place in the Sustainability category, which recognizes companies driving positive change in corporate and social sustainability; judged on their financial performance, research and development, corporate social responsibility, and skills and training development. In 2013, CEC took the overall Sustainability accolade.

Silavwe said: “I credit this achievement to all the members of CEC who, time and again, have exerted themselves in pursuit of performance that demonstrates our understanding of excellently serving our customers and the role the Company plays in the economy, and in the social and economic life of communities through our financial, environmental and social stewardship.”

The LuSE has 22 companies trading on the main board.

The 12th edition of the LuSE Corporate Governance Awards took place on Friday, 27th January in Lusaka.
