Vacancy – Network Development Engineer
The Copperbelt Energy Corporation PLC (CEC) is an independent power transmission and distribution company with interests in closely linked businesses in Zambia and the African region, including optic fibre based telecommunications.
CEC is inviting applications from suitably qualified, innovative and dynamic individuals to take up the following position.
Job Purpose
To develop CEC network expansions in order to capture and exploit emerging business opportunities on the market so as to increase the business portfolio of the organisation.
Key Accountabilities
- Conduct exhaustive business search in order to explore and exploit any business prospects available on the market.
- Conduct feasibility studies in respect of a customer wishing to be connected to the CEC network.
- Assessment of power demand forecasts.
- Finalize and agree project designs with customers in readiness for project implementation.
- Prepare Commercial Agreements with customers reflecting engineering fees for CEC, chargeable tariffs, penalties and other obligations to be fulfilled by customer, contractor and CEC.
- Commence tender processes for solicitation, evaluation and selection of suitable contractors to undertake projects.
- Negotiate for favourable contract conditions with successful bidders and inform customers accordingly. Follow safe work practices and report all health, safety and environment risks, hazards and incidents.
- Oversee software and network security and manage all system back-up and restore protocol.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by management from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 4 years practical experience.
- Should have significant numerical skills required in the development, configuration and simulation of the network.
- Should have managerial, oral and written skills.
- Computer literate and fully conversant with Microsoft Office package.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
