CEC Career Opportunity: Technician – Civil Maintenance
We currently have career opportunities in the following field:
VAC-2024-0006: TECHNICIAN – CIVIL MAINTENANCE
Grade: CEC 9 | Contract Type: Permanent | Location: Kitwe
This role is responsible for undertaking and implementing activities of on-site construction and maintenance works by performing activities such as machining, fabrication, joinery, tiling, roofing, etc. in conjunction with other subordinates, in addition to organizing materials, tools, and equipment for works while adhering to specifications and construction building regulations and standards.
Key Accountabilities
- Interpret and understand construction drawings and specifications from supervisors.
- Assist in carrying out assessments and measurements of infrastructure and works.
- Undertake works according to the work breakdown structures for construction, defects and maintenance works.
- Coordinate delivery of materials, tools and equipment to work sites including personnel.
- Record utilisation of materials, tools and equipment on site and all work instructions given by supervisors.
- Carry out carpentry works and/or bricklaying activities involving fabrication/construction of roofs, shattering, fitting of doors, repair of chairs, tables, floor tiling, plastering, bricklaying etc.
- Undertake works ensuring quality by adherence to specifications, safety and environmental standards.
- Maintain a site log for all construction activities on work sites.
- Undertake works assigned on maintenance works orders (MWO) and sign off completion of works.
- Undertake any Adhoc activities as assigned by the supervisor.
To be considered for this role, you will be required to have:
- Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
- Minimum Craft Certificate in construction-related field (Bricklaying & Plastering, Carpentry etc.).
- Membership with relevant professional body.
- Three (3) years post-graduate experience in the construction industry.
