CEC co-sponsors 2016 Zambia Open Golf Tourney

The Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC) has contributed USD20,000 to the hosting of the prestigious 2016 Zambia Open Golf Tournament, which has teed off at Nchanga Golf Club today.

Managing Director, Owen Silavwe, speaking during the handover of the sponsorship cheque prior to the start of the international tournament described the support as a demonstration of the Company’s commitment to the development of golf in Zambia.

He stated that CEC recognises that each discipline of sport needed to receive as much support as possible from both public and private resources, hence, the Company’s consistent rendering of support to various sports disciplines, aside from football.

In sponsoring the 2016 edition of the tournament, CEC has partnered with main sponsor and customer, Konkola Copper Mines Plc.

Silavwe invited more partnerships to ensure that investments were made to improve facilities and aid the development of golfing talent in Zambia, and called for more resources to create and sustain appropriate infrastructure.

He challenged the Zambian golfers to up the standard of their competitive game so that the prestigious trophy could remain home this time.
