CEC energises 2017 Zambia Open Golf Tournament

Chairman Hanson Sindowe has described the Zambia Open Golf tournament as a significant event on the nation’s sporting calendar worthy of the Company’s continued support.

CEC has handed a cheque of USD25,000 to the organisers of Mopani/Redpath 2017 Zambia Open Golf Tournament to be held at Nkana Golf Club in Kitwe from 29th May to 4th June, 2017.

The sponsorship continues a partnership that started in 2014 when Mopani Copper Mines Plc (Mopani), CEC’s second largest customer, first hosted the tournament.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Sindowe said that CEC was glad to strengthen its relationship and association with Mopani on and off the commercial front and to identify itself with the successful brand that the Zambia Open had become.

Tournament organising committee chairperson, Emmanuel Mutati, described CEC as an all-weather friend.

“You will recall that CEC was part of the Zambia Open in 2014, 2015 and 2016, and have been involved in many other types of sponsorship outside golf”, Mutati said.

And Nkana Golf Club captain, Philemon Mwale, stressed that the Club treasured CEC’s friendship and commitment to the successful hosting of the Zambia Open tournament.

“It was for the trust and confidence we have in the corporate world, not only on the Copperbelt but in Zambia as whole, that we knew people like yourselves (CEC) would come through at the right time and energise us”, Mwale said.
