CEC, Esther Lungu Foundation Trust Partner To Improve Healthcare Delivery
A partnership between CEC and the Esther Lungu Foundation Trust (ELFT) has enabled a donation of medical equipment and supplies to two health facilities in Lusaka today as the first beneficiaries among the many others to follow.
Board Chairman, Mr. London Mwafulilwa, alongside the First Lady of the Republic of Zambia, Mrs. Esther Lungu, kicked off the distribution of medical equipment and supplies sourced from US charity Project C.U.R.E. and sponsored by CEC. The supplies will be distributed to health facilities in Lusaka, Luapula and Petauke.
Today’s beneficiaries were the Kasisi Children’s Home Medical and Dental Clinic and the Kasis Rural Health Centre.
“The Government needs the support of all partners, including the private sector; to develop, grow and improve the health sector for the benefit of all citizens. We have witnessed another step towards achieving universal healthcare for all Zambians,” stated Mwafulilwa.
He urged all staff and others who will be responsible for using the equipment to ensure proper utilization and maintenance so that the life of the valuable resource is not shortened.
He was accompanied by Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Chris Nthala and directors Dr. Patrick Nkanza and Mr. Joe Chisanga.
The First Lady hailed the Foundation’s partnerships both at home and abroad; particularly with CEC and Project C.U.R.E. in this instance.
“Today we gather to witness how strong partnerships can complement government efforts in service delivery; specifically the donated health equipment for use in our health centres. The facilities must not only be closer to the people but they must be well equipped as well…My focus as the mother of this nation is to continue contributing to the attainment of universal health coverage,”
She implored the staff at the benefitting facilities, the district and provincial leadership and the Ministry of Health to ensure care and maintenance of the equipment acquired at huge cost so that it serves patients effectively and so that maximum benefit could be derived from it.
