APPOINTMENT OF BOARD CHAIRPERSON AND INDEPENDENT NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
In compliance with Paragraph 3.59(b) of the Lusaka Securities Exchange Listings Rules (“LuSE Listings Rules”), the Board of Directors (“the Board”) of Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (“CEC” or “the Company”) wishes to announce the following appointments to the Directorate, with immediate effect.
1. APPOINTMENT OF BOARD CHAIRPERSON
The Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. London Mwafulilwa as Independent Non-Executive Director and Board Chairperson.
Mr. Mwafulilwa is a seasoned mechanical engineer and entrepreneur. A registered engineer and fellow of the Engineering Institution of Zambia, he is currently the principal shareholder and team leader of Shawonga Enterprises Limited, a technical procurement and engineering company, and ZINPRO Zambia Company Limited whose board he also chairs. ZINPRO is an engineering procurement construction management company. He has served on the boards of several local and international interest businesses and currently chairs the board of directors of the Copperbelt Agriculture and Commercial Show Society.
The Board is confident that under Mr. Mwafulilwa’s direction and guidance, CEC will continue to grow and create value for shareholders.
2. APPOINTMENT OF INDEPENDENT NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Further, the Board wishes to notify shareholders of the appointment of Dr. Patrick Nkanza as Independent Non-Executive Director.
Dr. Nkanza holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) degree from the University of Zambia and a Doctor of Philosophy (Production Management and Manufacturing Technology) from the University of Strathclyde in the United Kingdom. He has written and/or published more than 25 papers. Currently, he works as an independent consultant; having served in both public and private sector capacities in and outside Zambia over many years, including as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Higher Education from 2012 to 2016 and as Director General of the Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority. His board directorate experience includes having chaired the board of directors of ZESCO Limited.
The Board is confident that Dr. Nkanza will add value to the Company for the benefit of all stakeholders.
