Copperbelt Energy Corporation wins inaugural iconic investor award
The Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC) has won the inaugural Iconic Investor Award in the local category conferred by the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA).
Chief Projects Officer, Aaron Botha, who received the award on behalf of the Company said being recognized as an iconic local investor gave comfort to CEC that its efforts to make meaningful investments in Zambia and beyond, and its contribution to the country’s economy, do not go unnoticed especially considering the challenging operating environment.
ZDA Director General, Patrick Chisanga, said the award was in recognition of CEC’s outstanding investment endeavors, which had positively impacted the communities in which it operates through job and wealth creation.
CEC has a diversified investment portfolio covering the electricity value chain, including renewables, and optic fibre based retail and wholesale telecommunications through operations in Zambia and Nigeria. The CEC Group currently employs more than 4,000 people.
The Zambia Investor Awards were introduced and held for the first time this year during the 5th Zambia International Investment Forum held from 21st to 22nd April, 2016 at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka under the auspices of the ZDA.
