Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC) wishes to notify its customers and stakeholders that one positive case of COVID-19 has been recorded among its members of staff at its operations head office in Kitwe. There are also two cases at Power Dynamos Football Club, which is sponsored by CEC.
As a result of the identified cases, the majority of staff will immediately revert to working remotely for an initial period of 14 days. Only the necessary staff as demanded by the need to maintain undisrupted service provision to our customers will be maintained at our operations head office and in other work stations. The Company has notified the relevant health authorities with whom it is collaborating to observe further recommended guidelines including fumigation of offices and all work areas.
The Company will continue to enforce the observance of the highest degree of preventive measures among its staff, individually and collectively, as it has done since the beginning of the pandemic and is looking into other measures to enhance the safety of its staff, family members, communities and all stakeholders, whose safety is of utmost importance to the Company.
CEC assures its customers of continued seamless service delivery at all times and will, to the furthest extent, rely on its existing high-end digital platforms for communication and provision of the same level of quality and reliable service that our customers are accustomed to. The Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC) is a licensed independent power generation, transmission, distribution and supply company whose core business is the supply of power to the copper mines based in the Copperbelt Province of Zambia and some mining companies in the DRC in conjunction with that country’s state utility, SNEL. CEC wheels power through its network on behalf of ZESCO Ltd on the Copperbelt, owns and operates a transmission interconnection with the DRC, over 1,000 kilometres of high voltage transmission lines and 43 substations across the Copperbelt.
