Tender closed | Invitation to tender: Kabompo Overhead Line Project Phase -Transmission Line Works (127000 KAB)
Copperbelt Energy is developing the Kabompo Gorge Hydro Power Station (KGHPS) on Kabompo River, in Kabompo District, North-western Province of Zambia. In order to undertake the development works, CEC requires builders’ power at the site. This power requirement shall be achieved by establishing supply from Lumwana substation to Kabompo construction site.
In order to meet the requirement of supplying power to Kabompo site for the development of the power station, CEC has determined that a new 33/11kV Kabompo Substation will be constructed at the site. The substation shall be supplied using one single-circuit 33kV transmission line from Lumwana substation.
The project will be undertaken as two separate contracts; one involving transmission line works and the other involving substation works. Note that procurement of the contractor for Substation Works is already underway and invitation to tender for that scope of works is closed. CEC seeks to engage the services of a qualified and competent contractor to undertake the ‘Kabompo Builder’s Power Supply Transmission Line Works (127000KAB)’ through an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract on terms and conditions as detailed in the Tender Documents.
As an overview, the Project shall involve the following works;
- Construct 130km overhead transmission line
- Terminate the overhead transmission line at Kabompo substation (transmission line bay to be equipped by others)
- Terminate the overhead transmission line at Lumwana substation (transmission line bay to be equipped by others)
The works will create Lumwana-Kabompo 33kV transmission line.
Detailed description of works is provided in the CEC Tender Documents which will be obtainable from the address indicated below after payment (at the CEC Cashier’s Office) of a non-refundable fee of ZMK1, 500, 000 at the address indicated below from 8:00 to 12:00 hours and from 14:00 to 16:00 hours starting from Monday 19th November, 2012 to Friday 23rd November, 2012 both days inclusive.

Volume I of the Tender Documents is available on our website; www.cecinvestor.com. Those who purchase the Tender Documents are invited to attend an optional pre-bid site visit from Wednesday 28th to Friday 30th November, 2012 both days inclusive.
Closing date for receipt of proposals shall be Friday 21st December, 2012. Tenders must be submitted in accordance with the requirements in the Instructions to Tenderers. Tenderers are advised that facsimile or email submissions shall not be accepted.
