The Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC) is an independent power transmission, distribution and generating company with interests in closely linked businesses, including optic fibre based telecommunication, in Zambia and the Sub- Saharan African region.
CEC invites applications from suitably qualified, innovative and dynamic individuals to take up the position of MECHANIC II based at our Head Office in Kitwe. The job holder will report to the Supervisor – Automotive.
Job Purpose
The job holder will carry out repair and maintenance of all motor vehicles at CEC in compliance with required engineering standards in order to sustain Company operations.
Key Accountabilities
- Carry out routine maintenance on all motor vehicles in order to ensure their reliability and availability for Company operations.
- Carry out repairs on defective vehicles which involve diagnosis, dismantling, replacement or reconditioning of defective parts, assembling and testing of completed vehicles to ensure that they are in good condition.
- Undertake repair and maintenance on the engines of diesel generators to ensure optimum performance.
- Recover vehicles which breakdown outside the plant.
- Carry out automotive repair activities in the most efficient and effective manner.
- Undertake any other jobs that may be assigned from time to time in compliance with the Company’s multi-skilling programme.
- Ensure that all Company resources in the garage are used solely for Company purposes and that there is no misuse of assets such as vehicles, tools and other materials.

Qualifications and Experience
- Full Grade Twelve School Certificate
- Craft or Technician Certificate in Automotive Mechanics
- At least two (2) years’ work experience
- Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia.
