System Performance Engineer (1 position – Kitwe)

CEC is inviting applications from suitably qualified, innovative and dynamic individuals to take up the following positions:
Job Purpose
To carry out detailed testing on plant equipment, establish equipment database and assist in the establishment and implementation of electrical and mechanical condition monitoring practices and procedures within the Company to eliminate high costs attributed to time based maintenance.
Key Accountabilities
- Perform regular routine testing of plant equipment and investigation to determine maintenance requirements
- Carry out electrical testing of transformers, circuit breakers and other associated plant equipment
- Undertake visual inspection and mechanical checks of compressors, gas turbines and synchronous compensators
- Carry out detailed laboratory and field testing and interpret test results in consultation with the System Performance & Asset Management Senior Manager in order to forecast equipment outage requirements and determine maintenance and asset replacement requirements
- Effectively manage the computerized maintenance management system to ease access for all engineers and to make available historical events, specifications and statistics
- Coordinate maintenance activities as per annual calendar to reduce on equipment downtime
- Prepare departmental operating and capital budgets
- Ensure strict adherence to domestic and statutory safety regulations to safeguard personnel and Company assets
- Undertake any additional tasks and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time
- Ensure that all Company resources under the section are used solely for Company purposes
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 3 years post qualification experience
- Relevant qualifications in Energy Management, Statistics and/or Power Systems are an added advantage
- Registered member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
- Computer literate and fully conversant with the Microsoft Office package
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
