CEC is inviting applications from suitably qualified, innovative and dynamic individuals to take up the position of ARTISAN – ELECTRICAL (01).
Job Purpose
To carry out effective and cost effective electrical maintenance work on equipment in an assigned CEC substation for the efficient operation of the power transmission system.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain substation and auxiliary electrical equipment to ensure that it is in the right working condition for continued safe power supply to customers.
- Undertake repairs on electrical system equipment so as to restore the equipment in the shortest possible time.
- Carry out equipment installation to satisfy customers’ needs.
- Carry out cable jointing duties to avoid disruption of power.
- Carry out transformer overhaul and rehabilitation to restore the equipment.
- Ensure that repaired equipment is thoroughly tested for compliance to required service standards.
- Check for possible faults on substation equipment to avoid major power interruptions and downtime.
- Ensure that working surroundings are always kept in a clean and tidy state (good housekeeping).
- Compile detailed and informative maintenance sheets on time to facilitate good record keeping.
- Ensure that maintenance work is carried out in accordance with system and safety regulations to avoid accidents.
- Carry out electrical maintenance activities in the most effective and efficient manner to ensure that same are performed right the first time, all the time.
- Undertake any other job that may be assigned from time to time, in compliance with Company programmes of multi-skilling.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum Craft Certificate in Electrical from a recognised institution.
- 2 years post qualification experience in a similar field.
- Ability to read wiring drawings and able to follow wiring schedules.
- Good understanding of auxiliary switching equipment such as timers, contactors and simple relays.
- Computer literate and fully conversant with the Microsoft Office package.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
