The Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC) is an independent power transmission and distribution company with interests in closely linked businesses, including optic fibre based telecommunications, in Zambia and the African region. CEC invites applications from suitably qualified, innovative and dynamic individuals for the position of Drivers.

Job Purpose

Drive/operate diverse Company vehicles in order to transport personnel, material and equipment to and from various work sites.

Key Accountabilities

• Drive any of the following vehicles while observing traffic rules and regulations: tipper, flat truck, hearse, low loader, bulldozer, mobile crane, buses, vans and may from time to time be required to carry out chauffeur duties for Company executives and others, etc;
• Report vehicle defects and accidents to immediate supervisor for further action;
• Identify and ensure that defective vehicles are taken to garage for repair;
• Ensure that all driving activities are carried out in the most effective and efficient manner so that the same are performed right the first time;
• Undertake and complete given assignments within allocated timeframe to avoid unnecessary overtime;
• Ensure that all Company vehicles and other tools are used solely for Company purposes to avoid misuse of same.

Qualifications and Experience

• Full Grade twelve (12) Certificate;
• Minimum of Class CE Driving License. PSV, PG and D will be a distinct advantage;
• Minimum of 3 years working experience;
• Possession of Earth Moving Equipment Competence Certificate and Instructor’s license will be an added advantage;
• Excellent communication and public relations skills;
• An overall accident-free driving record for the past five years; and
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
