The Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC) is an independent power supply, transmission, and distribution Company with interests in closely linked businesses, including fibre optic telecommunications, in Zambia and the Sub-Saharan African region.
CEC is inviting applications from suitably qualified, innovative and dynamic individuals to take up the position of Laboratory Analyst at our Head Office in Kitwe.
Job Purpose
To carry out laboratory oil testing, sampling and routine testing of plant equipment in order to establish their state for the purpose of facilitating Condition Based Maintenance (CBM).
Key Accountabilities
- Carry out routine testing of electrical equipment (Transformers, Circuit breakers, Batteries, etc.) so as to determine maintenance requirements.
- Adhere to correct sampling procedures and data acquisition on all electrical equipment in carrying laboratory procedures to avoid test result variations, thereby maintaining quality control standards.
- Ensure all laboratory equipment is in sound condition by strictly adhering to respective manufacturers’ recommendations and ensure 100% availability of required reagents.
- Perform post-maintenance inspection/analysis of equipment so as to establish the operating state of such equipment and officially close the works order.
- Participate in all installations, commissioning and repair of lab equipment.
- Maintain the Asset Maintenance ERP system by timely inputting of test results, associated costs and completed works orders.
- Carry out system performance monitoring activities in the most effective and efficient manner with the aim to do them right the first time.
Technical Skills
- Well versed in local and international standards on transformer oil quality.

Qualifications and Experience
- Required: Grade 12 Certificate.
- Desired: Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: At least 3 years’ prior work experience in a role and context of similar complexity.
