The Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC) is an independent power supply, transmission and distribution Company with interests in closely linked businesses, including fibre optic telecommunications, in Zambia and the Sub-Saharan African region.

CEC is inviting applications from suitably qualified, innovative and dynamic individuals to take up the position of Security Officer (x1) at our Head Office in Kitwe.

Job Purpose

The job holder will carry out security systems investigative duties including undertaking surveillances, access security controls, motor vehicle tracking and monitoring other security electronic systems in order to assure the security of company property.

Key Accountabilities

• Effectively monitor events and patterns of behaviour using security equipment such as CCTV, motor vehicle tracking, drones, etc, in order to protect company property and employees and control costs.
• Efficiently and effectively monitor all access points to company premises in order to prevent unauthorised entry.
• Maintain correct, accurate and timely daily, weekly and monthly logs of all security events monitored and captured on CCTV and other company security systems.
• Detect security breaches within CEC operational areas and enforce regulations when required.
• Facilitate prosecution, in the courts of law, of all cases of theft and vandalism involving company materials.
• Coach and monitor hired guards deployed on various CEC beats in order to ensure effective and efficient guardship and monitoring duties and patrols.
• Facilitate efficient connectivity and effective communication with stakeholders whenever crime incidents are noticed or reported in the system.
• Maintain links with all security units in the company in order to effectively manage rapid response.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum Education: Grade: 12 Certificate
• Professional Qualification: Certificate in Law and Police duties or equivalent.
• At least 3 years work experience in a similar role.

Skills and Competences

• Demonstrated experience in conducting surveillance and effecting arrests and occasionally being responsible for handling company firearms.
• Proven ability to operate surveillance systems.
• Possess minimum oral skills required to communicate with superiors, hired security guards and visitors.
• Good writing skills required for preparing Security Reports.
• Attention to detail and a tolerance for routine.
• Integrity, assertiveness, judgment ability and co-ordination skills.
• Presence of mind and ability and confidence to operate in a life threatening environment.
• Able to work extended and flexible hours.
• Sound decision making ability.
• Physically able to perform the specified task while wearing protective gear for long periods of time.
