Vacancy | Senior Manager – Supply Chain Management

The Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC) is an independent power transmission and distribution Company with interests in closely linked businesses in Zambia and the African region.

CEC invites applications from suitably qualified, innovative and dynamic individuals to take up the position of Senior Manager – Supply Chain Management based at our Head Office in Kitwe and reporting to the Managing Director. 

Job Purpose

The role manages the Company’s Supply Chain function, responsible for ensuring continuity of supply in line with business requirements, the appropriate management of risks, effective supplier relationship management and the attainment of maximum commercial value.

Key Accountabilities

 Manage and lead the development of supply chain management strategies and implementation plans that will drive decisions in how the Company approaches it’s spend and supply activities.

  • Accountable for the establishment, implementation and administration of supplier commercial agreements as well as the ongoing management and improvement of contract performance.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key existing suppliers and new partners within the supply market and drive the consolidation of the supplier base.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders as well as supply market experts and data sources to generate ideas and opportunities for continued commercial and technical advantage for the Company.
  • Develop and implement software systems to maintain optimum stock levels as well as monitor consumption trends in order to avoid stock outs and over-stocking of items.
  • Direct and monitor quality standards, physical storage, distribution and inventory preservation in order to provide a cost effective service to the internal customers and prevent stock degradation.
  • Manage and undertake data collection and in depth analysis activities relating to the execution of the supply chain activities, identify potential risks, issues and opportunities and supplier performance and customer satisfaction levels.
  • Manage the Supply Chain functional team by providing line management supervision and coaching support, including addressing training requirements and conducting performance assessment to continually improve performance standards.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to continually scan the external market for technical innovation which drives improved safety performance, cost reduction and productivity improvements.
  • Ensure personal and team compliance to the Company’s procurement policy, standards, tools and supply chain capabilities across the Source to Pay Lifecycle.

  • Provides a consistent outstanding role model in relation to HSES practices with a deep understanding of the importance of safety.

 Qualifications and Experience

  • Full Grade Twelve School Certificate.
  • Essential: An undergraduate qualification (Bachelor’s degree in a relevant business or engineering discipline) from a reputable university.
  • Professional: Graduate Diploma of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS).
  • Desirable: A postgraduate qualification (Master’s Degree) in Supply Chain Management, Procurement Management or Business Administration.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management, of which at least 4 was gained in a role and context of similar managerial complexity.
  • Good know-how and understanding of the applicable regulatory and governance framework.
