The Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC) is an independent power supply, transmission, and distribution Company with interests in closely linked businesses, including fibre optic telecommunications, in Zambia and the Sub-Saharan African region.
CEC is inviting applications from suitably qualified, innovative and dynamic individuals to take up the position of Technician Refrigeration based at our Head Office in Kitwe.
Job Purpose
To carry out installation, maintenance, repair and refrigeration of all air conditioners and refrigeration equipment to ensure optimum performance.
Key Accountabilities
- Test-operate, check mechanisms, diagnose faults, adjust controls and mechanisms and replace defective components of air conditioners and refrigeration systems.
- Execute routine maintenance on all air conditioners and refrigeration equipment in order to optimise their operation.
- Execute repair work which involves dismantling, diagnosis, and rectification of fault, assembling, installation and commissioning of air conditioners and refrigeration equipment so as to restore them to original status.
- Perform modifications of defective components so as to adapt them to new operating requirements.
- Carry out installation works including drilling holes, installing mounting brackets and cutting, bending, threading and bolting piping to connect equipment, and check alignment and accuracy of fit.
- Install and commission new equipment and/or components such as air compressors, condensers and copper lines (for gas/compressed air/refrigerants) in line with technical specifications.
Technical Skills

- Interpret blueprints and electrical and electronic schematics.

Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum: Grade 12 Certificate.
- Desirable: Technician Certificate in Refrigeration or Instrumentation.
- Accreditation: Registered Technician of Engineering Institution of Zambia.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a role and context of similar complexity.
